Use Your Weapons of Righteousness Against any Darkness
"Attack anything that makes you feel unworthy, inadequate, hopeless, powerless and useless. That is the evidence of the enemy. All those things need to be attacked with joy, with peace, with love and grace, with mercy, with kindness and the goodness of God." Graham Cooke
You might ask, but how? How can I come against bad mood, negative feelings or emotions, or thoughts, storms, situations, oppression and darkness?
We fight the good fight of FAITH - of what we believe; of what we're persuaded about. We stand on what we believe. Just make sure what you believe is true.
"The law was given by Moses, BUT Grace and TRUTH was revealed through Jesus Christ."
Pay attention that the word TRUTH is no the side of Christ, and NOT on the side of Moses - the law giver.
"The Law is not of faith" Gal 3:12
In other words, we do not want to follow what's not of faith. If you follow God through the law you reject the work Christ came to do - which is to take us OUT from under such system. It's bringing back what He had buried already. We are dead to the law, it no longer has any power, or authority over us - unless we subject ourselves under it as slaves.
So, how do we fight the fight of our faith, if the law is not of faith?
With the weapons of righteousness:
2 Corinthians 6:7 AMP By [speaking] the word of truth, in the power of God, with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand [to attack] and for the left hand [to defend];
The law will always declare you as not meeting its standard - as Sinner.
But Christ came to abolish the enmity which is the law with its commandments, and by His righteousness He made us righteous as He is. He gave us His identity.
In Adam we had the identity of Sinners, but in Christ as a new creation we have a new identity of Righteous.
Romans 5:19 NASB For as through the one man's disobedience (Adam) the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One (Christ) the many will be made righteous.
So, it’s by His obedience, not my obedience to the law of works, that I became righteous.
But what are those weapons of righteousness?
The weapons of unrighteousness is presenting the members of our body to sin (Noun) – it’s a mistaken identity. We are to consider ourself dead to sin but alive in Christ.
Romans 6:11-14 NASB
(11) Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
(12) Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,
(13) and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments (weapons) of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments (weapons) of righteousness to God.
(14) For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
When we do not consider ourself alive in Christ we let sin reign in our body and this is how we obey it’s lusts. The members of our body are not weapons of unrighteousness, but weapons of righteousness when we are alive in Christ.
When we present our body to the nature of sin (Noun) we use the weapons of unrighteousness. We do not see ourself dead to sin and resurrected as new creation, but we see our old nature of sin (Noun) as if we are still sinners.
When we present ourself to the nature of righteousness we use our body as a weapon of righteousness, knowing we are dead to sin, resurrected, a new creation, having a new nature of righteousness and we’re no longer sinners, but righteous and alive in Christ.
How can we present our members as weapons of righteousness to God?
By knowing and believing we are no longer under law and therefore sin which gets its power from the law is no longer our master. Grace is our Lord and Master. I’m inside Righteousness (noun), no longer inside Sin (noun).
- So, when we want to use the weapons of righteousness we need to know and believe our identity in Christ, no longer Sinners but righteous by grace. We do not belong to Adam, but to Christ.
- Knowing and believing the finished works of Christ – is our weapon of righteousness.
- Knowing and believing who Christ is in us is our weapon,
- Knowing and believing who Christ has made us as a new creation is our weapon.
- Knowing and believing who God says we are, not who the law says we aren’t – is our weapon.
- Knowing and believing our position in Christ as sons, not slaves to the law – is our weapon.
- Knowing and believing we were raised up with Christ and we’re dead to sin – is our weapon.
- Knowing we have met the standard of the law is our weapon,
- Knowing and believing we have met the standard of God is our weapon.
- Knowing we have been redeemed with an eternal redemption (forgiveness) is our weapon.
- Knowing our redemption (forgiveness) is not temporary but forgiven once and for all – is our weapon.
- Knowing it’s no longer you who lives, but Christ lives in you and through you – is your weapon.
- Knowing God no longer remembers your sins is your weapon.
- Knowing God no longer keeps any account of your wrong is your weapon.
- Knowing the certificate of debt (sins) with charges against you was cancelled, taken out of the way and nailed to the cross is your weapon.
- Knowing you have been perfected already by the blood of Jesus is your weapon.
- Knowing God loves you because He made you new in Christ is your weapon.
- Knowing you have already been sanctified (set apart for God) by His one sacrifice is your weapon.
- Knowing God sees no blemish in you is your weapon.
- Knowing you are beautiful and pleasing to God because Christ is, - is your weapon.
- Knowing and believing God loves you – is your weapon.
All these are your weapons of righteousness.
The more you see Christ, and no longer YOU or the weak corrupt SELF – the more you can practice using those weapons of your right standing with God in Christ.
When Judas and his cohorts came to Jesus in the garden and they were holding their weapons; what do you think was the weapon Jesus used against them?
The weapon He used was His identity. He knew who He is in God, the oneness He has with His Father and how much His Father loves Him.
Jesus lead them to ask Him about His identity “Who are you seeking?” After all, He knew they came looking for Him and could have asked them “What do you want?” or “Why did you come with weapons?” but TWICE He asked them “Who are you seeking?” “Jesus of Nazereth” they answered. This is when Jesus used His weapon “I AM” – the weapon of His identity and His oneness and right standing with His Father. He answered them with the weapon of His identity as God Himself standing in front of them “I AM”. They sought for a MAN from Nazereth, but He kept revealing His true identity twice: “I AM”. He made sure they knew who He is. Even the Holy Spirit testified of his identity making sure they knew who He is as they all fell back to the ground, in subjection to Him who is the Lord. But they did not know who He really is. They walked in the flesh and saw a man, not God in Him.
Joh 18:3 Judas then, having received the Roman cohort and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, *came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. Joh 18:4 So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and *said to them, "Whom do you seek?" Joh 18:5 They answered Him, "Jesus the Nazarene." He *said to them, "I am He." And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. Joh 18:6 So when He said to them, "I am He," they drew back and fell to the ground. Joh 18:7 Therefore He again asked them, "Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus the Nazarene." Joh 18:8 Jesus answered, "I told you that I am He; so if you seek Me, let these go their way,"
These weapons of righteousness are powerful and destroy strongholds (false mindsets), reasonings, and man’s logic which comes against the knowledge of God. These weapons help us to take captive any false thought to the obedience of the Truth who is Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:3-7 NASB
(3) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
(4) for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
(5) We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
(6) and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
(7) You are looking at things as they are outwardly. If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ's, let him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ's, so also are we. (Consider this: you are ALREADY Christ like, in his image and form. They looked to their flesh and could not see Christ in them, but SELF and it’s corruption and thought that this is who they are. They saw a false identity)
I'm learning to use my weapons of righteousness and the Holy Spirit convicts and reminds me of my righteousness in Christ. At times when I struggle with feelings and emotions, negative thoughts or anything dark and ugly, I find it difficult to focus on Christ in me, on how much I am loved and accepted, of the oneness and no separation I have with God in Christ, of His great and deep love for me and the beauty He sees in me. Because what I feel seems so real.
But I want the truth that I know to be more real to me. The truth of God’s love for me is my reality, and not what my flesh feels or thinks.
I wake up sometimes in the morning with a negative mood, and it feels so real. It's so oppressing it makes you want to just run away to a place where there is sunshine and joy, peace and rest. But the Lord always reminds me that what I feel is not who I am.
I don't want to follow negative feelings, emotions or thoughts because these are NOT mine. It's like someone vomiting on you and telling you that this yucky vomit is yours and it’ s who you are. No, it's NOT yours and it’s NOT who you are.
“It’s not about who you’re NOT, but who I AM”. This is what the Lord kept telling me many times over and over as I was deeply walking under the accusations of the enemy who used people and myself to tell me how not good enough I am, and how I do not measure up to the standard and requirements of the law of God or any man made laws and regulations.
I don’t live my life by trying to meet any standard of any law. I already know I cannot. The minute you bring yourself under any man made laws you are subject to them and put a yoke over yourself to fulfill it. You become a slave to any law you are trying to obey. We do things out of the freedom we have, not because we have to or there is a demand. I already know Christ my Savior has met all the standards of the law for righteousness for me. So, He is my Standard and I am Righteous (meaning in Greek: have met the standard of the law, have met the standard of God), apart from my performance Rom 3:28.
Yea, I have already met God’s high standard for righteousness – my new identity is Righteous and I have done nothing to achieve it!!!!! Thank You my wonderful Lord and Father for who You have made me in You. I love my new identity which is YOU who is in me.
What you feel or think and has any negative in it - is NOT who you are.
What people see, think or say about you – is also not who you are in Christ.
They either see YOU, or CHRIST in you. They either see in the Spirit your real identity in Christ which is the truth, or in the flesh your old identity was died and buried with Jesus.
Flesh manifests daily in corrupt and ugly ways from fear, doubt, accusations, greed, jealousy or lust.
Learn to separate who you are in Christ, from what you feel, see, think or do.
Learn to separate who god says you are, from who YOU SEE (the fleshy you).
The fleshy you is not who you are anymore. It’s just a manifestation of who YOU think you are.
The more you behold (see) Christ, the more you will manifest Christ in you.
It’s what you believe that manifests through you.
When the Accuser vomits on me and tries to stick my old identity on me and I see my flesh, instead of who Christ IS in me, I speak to the Lord and literally say this (or whatever comes to mind about my true identity in Christ):
"Lord, I don't care what I feel right now, it's not who I am in Christ. These feelings, or thoughts, or manifestation of my flesh are not mine, and not my new identity. Christ lives in me and therefore I am filled with life, joy, peace and every good thing inside of me. The Spirit of the Living God dwells in me and I am one spirit with Him - and He is all Love, Grace and Kindness. I am as He is. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and this is my new identity”.
Awaken to righteousness and do not sin by unbelief, as some do not knowledge God.
1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God:
Romans 13:11-12 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. (12) The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the WORKS of darkness and put on the armor (weapons) of light. (which is your righteousness with God in Christ, apart from your works Rom 3:28)
Prayer (talking to God):
Lord, help me to use the weapons of my righteousness in Christ and overcome by the blood of Jesus paid to redeem me from myself, my old identity as a Sinner, and my corrupt flesh. Holy Spirit convict me of my righteousness in Christ daily to help me overcome by my faith – by believing who You say I am, not who I think I am. Show me more daily of my new identity in Christ and who Christ is in me, and how You see me. I want to know the power of Your resurrection which is the power of Your great Love for me.
I love you Abba – you are the BEST!!!!
